Dolphins hold off Jets 28–25
The Miami Dolphins beat the New York Jets 28–25 after Malik Willis’ 63-yard touchdown pass to Douglas and a late fourth-down conversion secured the win.
Miami led 21–7 at halftime after Ollie Gordon II scored on a 1-yard run and Willis scrambled for a 2-yard touchdown. Taaffe intercepted Geno Smith to stop a Jets drive in the second quarter.
The Jets answered with 10 straight points on Smith’s touchdown pass to Cooper and Sanders’ field goal. Willis then found Douglas for the long touchdown. Smith’s 12-yard touchdown pass to Taylor and a successful 2-point conversion cut the lead to 28–25, but Willis converted fourth-and-1 on Miami’s final drive.
Willis completed 14 of 21 passes for 208 yards and 2 touchdowns. Gordon ran 25 times for 103 yards and a touchdown. Smith went 23 of 30 for 287 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception, while Omar Cooper Jr. caught 5 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown.
